Focused Support for O-Level & A-Level Success
World Mathematical Society provided short, intensive workshops held during school holidays to help students prepare for ZIMSEC and Cambridge exams, focusing on common problem areas and past paper practice.
These holiday workshops are a direct response to the academic pressures faced by students preparing for high-stakes exams. Our goal is to provide a calm, structured, and results-driven environment where learners can focus deeply on their revision without the usual distractions of the school term. Held across Zimbabwe in both urban and rural centres, these sessions are compact in duration but powerful in impact.
Each workshop is designed around three pillars: mastering past exam papers, understanding key content areas, and strengthening exam technique. We work with experienced mathematics educators who are not only familiar with the ZIMSEC and Cambridge syllabi but also with the most common mistakes and misconceptions students face during exams

For many learners, these sessions have become a turning point in their academic journeys. We’ve seen students who were unsure and overwhelmed become confident and ready in just a few focused days. It’s not just about cramming; it’s about clarity. We create room for learners to ask difficult questions, challenge themselves, and walk away with strategies they can trust under exam pressure.
One of our greatest strengths lies in the way we break complex topics into manageable, understandable steps. Whether it’s tricky functions, probability, vectors, or calculus, our facilitators offer tools and shortcuts that stick. By prioritising frequent interaction, practical examples, and real exam simulations, we reduce fear and build lasting competence.
We also place a high value on mental readiness. Through short motivational talks, study planning sessions, and peer-led encouragement circles, we remind students that success is not just about knowing content—it’s about believing they can deliver when it matters most.
Feedback from both learners and parents has been overwhelmingly positive. Many of our students leave saying, “I wish I had this earlier.” We agree—and that’s why we are working tirelessly to scale the workshops, so that more students across Zimbabwe can access this kind of preparation, regardless of where they are or what school they attend.
Our holiday workshops are free of charge or heavily subsidised, thanks to the generosity of donors and members of the W.M.S. community. We believe that exam success should not be a privilege, but a reachable goal for every dedicated learner.
As we look ahead, our commitment is to continue growing this model. More locations, more subjects, and even more targeted support. Because when learners are well-prepared, they don’t just pass—they thrive.
